Dawson Euro Ground Release Shackles
The Euro Ground Release Shackles are designed to improve job site safety and save time and money by speeding up the handling of sheet piles.

Advantages

Fast hook-up. Hook the shackles straight through standard pile lifting hole.
Fast release. Shackle released in about 10 seconds by one man with his feet on the ground.
Durability. The shackle is designed to withstand a measure of unavoidable misuse. Minimum number of components for reliability and ease of maintenance. Operating mechanism is concealed for maximum protection
Safety check. Shackle pin is extended through the back of the barrel assembly as an indicator bar. That gives a tell-tale indication of the pin position.
Strength. Stiff web section gives high strength/weight ratio on the steel casting. Top ring provides two dimensional flexible joint.
Material quality. Main casting: BS3100: 1976: Grade BT2 low alloy steel. Tensile strength 850-1000N/mm 2. High quality pin BS970:1955: EN36 high alloy steel. Tensile strength 1000 N/mm2.

All shackles have been tested with twice the safe working load and are delivered with certificate.

Installation

• With the pin in retracted position and indicator bar protruding, slide the shackle over the sheet pile.
• Align the shackle pin over the lifting hole and strike indicator bar to release the retaining mechanism.
• Place the safety ring over the barrel assembly to safeguard against unintentional pull of wire (release).
• With the pile in vertical position, secure the release rope and pitch the pile.

Release

• When the pile is correctly positioned, whip the release rope away from the pile.
• Pull firmly the release rope to retract the pin. The locking mechanism will hold it in the re­tracted position. This is confirmed by the indicator bar protruding from the barrel assembly.
