Operation
- A rope of sufficient length must be fixed to the pull ring of the extension wire to permit release of the shackle from a remote position.
- With the locking pin in retracted position and the indicator bar protruding, the shackle is slided over the pile.
- Align the locking pin over the lifting hole of the pile and strike the indicator bar to release the retaining mechanism.
- Place the safety ring over the barrel assembly to safeguard against unintentional pull of the release wire.
- With the pile in vertical position, secure the release rope and pitch the pile.

Safe Release
- Arrange the pile in the correct position.
- Whip the release rope so the safety ring leaves the barrel assembly.
- Pull firmly the release rope to retract the pin.
The locking mechanism of the shackle will hold it in the retracted position. This is confirmed by the indicator bar protruding from the barrel assembly.
Recommendation: Fix a small magnet
Some contractors fix a small magnet to the end of the rope and place it on the pile.
